High Alkaline High Alumina line blend I

Both the left member, and right member of this line blend have empirical formula with:

alumina = .6

slilica = 3

Li2O = .3

Thus equally all the tiles have this alumina and silica, and lithium

The left member has minimal alkaline earths, with combined CaO and MgO equal to .08.

The right member has combined CaO and MgO equal to .4

This is a test of the effect of the relative proportion of alkaline metals to alkaline earths.

This is fired to cone 6 in an electric kiln. All the tiles were fired in the same kiln, on the same shelf.




High Alkaline High Alumina line blend II

Both the left member, and right member of this line blend have empirical formula with:

alumina = .6

slilica = 3

Li2O = .36 for the left member, .39 for the right member

Thus equally all the tiles have this alumina and silica and similar high Li2O

The left member has minimal alkaline earths, with combined CaO and MgO equal to .05.

The right member has combined CaO and MgO equal to .32

This is anoter test of the effect of the relative proportion of alkaline metals to alkaline earths, but with higher lithium.

This also is fired to cone 6 in an electric kiln. All the tiles were fired in the same kiln, on the same shelf.
