A Two Component Line Blend

this is a line blend with left end equal parts of whiting and Unispar, right end Unispar. The tiles are shown in order from top to bottom.

The left two tiles and right two tiles are heavily crazed, the tiles in the are middle uncrazed, showing that both overfired and underfired can produce crazing. The two left tiles show the effect of an overfused glaze eating into the pot underneath and disolving part of that clay into itself. This is another in a series of two component line blends, to show that glazes can be developed starting at a primitive level with only two components. It seems likely that additional tweaking can produce a viable glaze starting with tile 3 or tile 4, both of which have a waxy white texture.

This line blend was fired to cone 6 in an electric kiln. All the tiles were fired in the same firing.
