cobalt colors up close

Some of the colors and textures that cobalt glazes can exhibit have been seen in these various notes in reverse order:

one
two
three
four
five
six
seven
eight

Are the blue crystals and pink/lavender crystals seen in these glazes distinct crystals?

As a beginning, I looked at the surfaces of these glazes with a Jiusion Digital Microscope.

Here I show some extreme close-up images of the surface of several of these glazes. These images are all
taken of crystalline sections of the surface with a minimum of glassy substrate.

These images have been extensively edited.

Looking at these images, it would seem that there are translucent crystals growing on the surface of the glaze.

The morphologies shown here seem to represent what I can find in all of these glazes. Up close, the surfaces
seem to show less variety than viewed 'in the large'.
