My firings have lots of holds and slow ramps in the downfire, are in that aspect baroque.
As a prelude to an investigation of the effects of the temperature and lengths of holds on a
variety of glazes, I did a baseline firing. A firing with no holds or slow ramps. This firing is a pure "up,
down" firing.

I show the results of that firing here. In each case, I show first the result of the glaze in the pure
"up down" firing, followed by an image of the glaze in a firing with holds in the downfire.
The comparison version is either a pointer to a previous note, or an image.

The glazes in the baseline firing have an underglaze decoration created by slip trailing a
contrast glaze on the bisque before glazing the pot.

This firing is to cone 10 in oxidation.
