Titanium Colors

A glaze with connected rutile crystal clusters is shown. It is a relative of the glaze hiAlk_Z3P_MAl
seen here .

This piece has an inlay of the saturated iron glaze satIron_ZG_1S_Z3J.

The interactions at the interface between the glaze and inlay show coppery colored crystal clusters with
the appearance of sand at the seashore and there are black inclusion as well. These are artifacts seen in
neither of the individual glazes.

Because the crystal within the inlay are in focus in these closeups and markings at the interface are not,
it appears that these crystal clusters stand above the level of the glaze..

The design is created by adhering a mask and then applying the main glaze. After drying,
the mask is removed and the open area filled in with a second glaze, using a bulb syringe
with a needle applicator.

Several closeups of the surface of the glaze, including images of the interaction between the glaze
and inlay glaze are shown. A picture of the bowl is also shown.
